NYSE halts trading (update)

NYSE halted all trading at 11:32 a.m. EST Wednesday due to an unspecified “technical issue.”

NYSE spokesperson Marissa Arnold said: “We’re currently experiencing a technical issue that we’re working to resolve as quickly as possible. We will be providing further updates as soon as we can, and are doing our utmost to produce a swift resolution, communicate thoroughly and transparently, and ensure a timely and orderly market re-open.”

Bloomberg had reported earlier that NYSE spokeswoman Marissa Arnold emailed a statement saying that the exchange is doing their “utmost to produce a swift resolution, communicate thoroughly and transparently, and ensure a timely and orderly market re-open.”

The news came after a separate technical glitch grounded all United Airlines flights Wednesday morning.

Earlier today, NYSE issued a statement via twitter at 12:10 p.m. EST.
